Everyone loves sweet gestures—little things that remind someone that you love them, that you think of them, that you care for their general, and other things. A gesture could be made towards a friend, a family member, or some other loved one. Maybe towards a total stranger you think deserves something to make them smile.

1. LOVE NOTES ♥ Everyone loves love notes, and they don’t even have to be romantic. It could be simple as ‘have a good day at work’ or even something funny to brighten someone’s day.

2. BREAKFAST IN BED ♥ Especially on a Sunday morning or after a long, late shift at work, breakfast in bed with their favorite foods is surely the way to start the day off right.

8. FLOWERS ♥ From a florist or from a random patch of green, the surprise of flowers for someone you know and/or love is always welcomed! Look into their meanings to make the bouquet, big or small, become extra special.

9. RENT A MOVIE ♥ Sure, you might not like the genre of the movie, but if the other person does, then that is all that matters.

10. SLOW DANCE ♥ Middle of the living room, randomly while on a date, or maybe that is the whole purpose of the date. Slow dances are so underrated.

11. SURPRISE GETAWAY ♥ Yes, that is just what you guys need: a vacation from things, even if it’s just for a day or two and is not half way across the world. From a family vacation to a romantic spur of the moment, everyone loves going to a new place.

12. SURPRISE KISS ♥ Who doesn’t like a surprise kiss? A soft one on the cheek, a kiss being the thing to wake you up in the morning, or a big one right when you walk through the door.

13. HOLD HANDS ♥ There is nothing like holding hands. It’s a simple and intimate gesture, and if you do it the right way, it could have a whole different meaning.

14. COOK DINNER ♥ Come on, give it a go. Who cares if you’re not the best cook in the world or possibly the worst? It’s the thought that counts.

[he deserves nice things]

[It's been... something of a long week. Valentina's been out of town, working on a big (and not strictly legal) deal, and Rahela had vacation time so she'd tagged along. Eddie has been home alone for days, and damn, he just is not built for that. Val got back last night, though, and he's already feeling much better. It's so easy to forget how much it sucks to live by himself when he never actually... does that.]

[It reminds him, though, that Ryou lives alone. Curse or not, that sucks. He doesn't usually see him much during the week, because Ryou is into things like "attending college courses" and "studying responsibly" and "not drinking on a Tuesday", but, hell, he's feeling sentimental and Thursday is close enough to the weekend to count.]

[He doesn't even text first, just show up with a bag of cheap, greasy takeout and don't-call-it-that-but-it's-love in his heart. Knock knock, Ryou, vampires can't come in uninvited. Or, well, they CAN, but Eddie doesn't have keys to your apartment.]

[Ryou does in fact live alone and he's very used to it and the general concept of loneliness. He has that whole "abandoned by his father", "separated from his mother and dead(?) sister", "isolated from new friends thanks to a demon", and "general alienation from his friends by his friends" stuff going on. That last one's gotten much better since graduating high school for some reason, but boy during high school? Not great, guys. But despite being texted way more often than before to hang out and stuff, he's gotten used to keeping to himself and tends to just...do that, especially since starting college.]

[And, yeah, usually his friends text before coming--with the exception of Jounouchi who swears every time he did--so he's not too surprised when there's s knock at his door. He stops writing notes for class and pushes himself up to go get the door. He's not expecting Eddie with food on this fine Thursday afternoon, but he's delighted and maybe blushing a little bit; he's smitten.]

[After feeding, Eddie usually gets kind of giddy-- warm and loose and overwhelmingly happy. It's not an uncommon reaction in vampires, a rush of endorphins from meeting a biological need. It's also his closest comparison for the way he feels when Ryou opens the door and smiles at him like that.]

[He grins and drops his bag of takeout, confident that it will do no damage to the styrofoam containers. With his hands free, he steps forward and catches Ryou for a hug, and not really the 'quick affectionate greeting' sort. It's a bear hug is what it is, comfortable and a little rough, and it lingers.]

Nothing special, was just thinking about you.

[He laughs a little, grins into Ryou's hair.]

[Oh this is. This is a hug. Ryou almost doesn't know what to do with this. He just kinda stands there for a moment, struck with shock, before he releases a breath he was holding and, hesitantly at first, returns it. Once his arms are also around Eddie he lets them sit there, getting used to his shape, how he fills the space and feels when he draws him in. Then he squeezes him a little tighter, not as much as Eddie is hugging him, but about as much as his thin arms and shyness can msuter.]

[He can't help but return the breathless laugh.]

What a coincidence, I was thinking about you as well.

[Sometimes Ryou reminds Eddie of a squirrel he used to feed in the backyard when he was little. There's always a moment of hesitation, where the familiarity of the person you're interacting with goes up against some kind of easily spooked prey animal thing. It always feels like a win when he relaxes and accepts affection. In the squirrel metaphor it was sunflower seeds but you know what, hugs work too.]

Distracting you from your homework before I even show up, huh?

[He finally steps back out of the hug then, but not far, leaving one hand on Ryou's shoulder.]

I'll just have to work extra hard to be even more distracting in person then.

[Wink!]

[The chuckle comes out closer to a giggle, honestly, and Ryou brings his hand up to somewhat cover his mouth. How embarrassing, really, yet it still feels alright to be like that with Eddie, with that hand on his shoulder and that wink in his direction and the promises to be distracting. Something as loose and vulnerable as a giggle is probably fine.]

You won't have to try very hard.

[He's just being honest.]

[Eddie's easy grin is pretty obviously smitten, but in his defense: boy cute.]

And here I'd been preparing a song and dance to earn your favor. Six years of pole dancing lessons, wasted.

[He picks up the bag of takeout and holds it up in a vague gesture in the direction of Ryou's kitchen. They're still standing in the doorway, but he knows where it is from memory.]

You hungry now or you want me to put this away?

[The giggle happens again then settles on a semi-toothy smile and equally smitten gaze cast on him. Why are these two stupid.]

Shame.

[He's shaken out of his daze of "like boy" and he puts his hand in his hair, pushing it back as he moves out of the way for Eddie to come in.]

Right! Food. I could eat now and I'm at a stopping point.

[Eddie chuckles.]

As always, I have excellent timing.

[No you don't, Eds. This is a fluke and you know it.]

[He carries the food inside, taking a moment to take off his shoes, stepping the heel of one with his other foot. Normally he's less careful about doing that, because his apartment is basically a blood trafficking den with a kitchen and everyone tracks dirt through it, but he tries to be polite for Ryou.]

[Ryou doesn't know how true that is but he chuckles all the same.]

I appreciate it.

[He closes the door behind Eddie and steps from the tile to the carpet. He observes his table full of books and notes and goes over to tidy all that up.]

Let me just clean this all up first...you can come over!

[It's not going to take him very long, it's just a lot of closing books and putting them on the ground.]

[Eddie follows Ryou over to his schoolwork, peering curiously at the books. Most of his own education comes from his grandmother or the internet, and he's always impressed by how good Ryou is with school stuff, especially given everything he was dealing with growing up.]

Anything interesting on the syllabus today, Professor Bakura?

[Most of his friends probably wouldn't believe him, but Eddie likes listening to Ryou explain things, even if he completely lacks the context for it. The school stuff isn't as fun as all the games he's been learning to play, but he's invested in this boy, he wants to hear all of it.]

[Ryou chuckles at that as he finishes tidying up.]

Just algebra, nothing too exciting. Fractions, absolute value...I'm doing a review before we move on to the next thing. Our professor likes to sneak in material from previous sections into tests for current sections so I try to be on guard.

[He hasn't touched his history studies yet or he'd be chatting Eddie's ear off right now instead of allowing them to eat at all.]
