[Poor Haruhi. Everything she tries to do to comfort Shinji just keeps making him cry. This time, it's because she isn't forcing him to do this. Nobody has ever given him an honest out-- everyone told him it was his decision, but it always clear that saying no was never a real option. If your options are disappointing everyone while forcing your peers to do your share and probably killing a ton of people in the process, or... not doing that, that isn't really a choice. It's do or die, presenting "die" as if it was an option you could ever really take.]
