[It's been a couple weeks since Kairi volunteered to go into some kind of dream coma to try to find Sora and the days are starting to blend together. Naminé spent the first week by Kairi's side, hoping her presence would somehow make the process work better, but sitting in the quiet lab surrounded by the faces of people who used to be members of Organization XIII leaves her feeling more unsettled than comforted. Everyone assured her they were there to help but it just doesn't feel right.

Naminé decided after that she'd be better off avoiding the lab altogether. She never expected being surrounded by new friends to feel so lonely. Everyone has been so kind and supportive but how could they understand? Riku might be the closest, he lost both of his friends and partners but no one has the same connection that she has with Kairi. Well, no one except maybe Roxas.

It's this thought that leads her to seek him out. Maybe Roxas has been having just as hard a time as she has. She sends him a text on her gummiphone asking him to go get ice cream. Maybe, at least, this will be a good distraction.]

[10 years after their high school graduation Kairi, Naminé, Sora, and Roxas all meet up back in their home town. Kairi and Naminé's parents don't live in town anymore so they've been sleeping over at Sora and Roxas's childhood home to avoid paying hotel fees. Kairi and Sora have been traveling the world with their boyfriend so it's a great opportunity to catch up in person before they head out again. She also hasn't had the chance to see Roxas in person in a few months since he lives in a different city. It's been so fun spending time together after so long!

Over breakfast Sora and Roxas mention that Vanitas is going to be in town over the weekend and that's a name Naminé hasn't heard in a while. She hasn't seen him since she was in high school. When they were kids he seemed so fascinating, up until he started pranking them anyway, that was rude, but by the end of high school he seemed to chill out. Naminé can't help but find herself wondering if he's just as edgy as a 31 year old as he was as a 21 year old.

Naminé doesn't have too much time to think about it because later that day, in the middle of watching Sora try to get Roxas to play Just Dance with him, Vanitas walks in the door. She looks up from her sketchbook at the sound of the door opening.]

[Usually Vanitas is dragged back to his hometown by Ven, but this time he's come back on his own. He needs some help from his parents, and it was just easier to handle things in person; whether that was true or just a ploy to see their aloof son, Vanitas wasn't entirely sure, but getting free meals for a week isn't something he's about to turn down.]

[He enters the room, and isn't surprised at all when Sora and Roxas come running up to him. Sora also tries to get Vanitas to play Just Dance with him while Roxas is telling him to run while he can. After getting cornered into promising to catch up with them in detail later--it's only been a few months since the holidays, not much in Vanitas' life has been that interesting--he heaves a breath as the younger twins go back to arguing over the game.]

[Then he notices someone else in the room. It's been significantly longer since he's seen Naminé. He nods his head up at her and readjusts the bag over his shoulder.]

Hey, squirt. Still coloring?

[Squirt. Well, it seems not much has changed after all this time. Namine sighs softly.]

A little more than coloring these days.

[Namine holds up her sketchbook and turns it towards him. It's a figure sketch of the younger twins standing in front of the TV. The sketch characterizes them perfectly even if there isn't much detail. It's all in the movement of the two figures. She turns the sketchbook back towards her and holds it close to her chest.]

It's nice to see you again, Vanitas.

[justabadguy]

[Honestly? Very impressive. He even whistles, though it sounds patronizing because he's Vanitas and being genuine and nice isn't his priority.]

Wow. Looks like those dorks, alright.

[Then he shrugs. Again, being anything but minimally abrasive just isn't possible and he's not about to make himself palatable.]

Don't count on seeing me a lot while I'm here.

[Namine rolls her eyes. It's impossible not to. He's just so...Vanitas about everything. It's not her usual habit to be negative that way but he brings it out in her.]

Sure. Are you planning on avoiding us like you did when we were children?

[justabadguy]

[He smirks; little Naminé can make that face? Fun.]

I got better things to do than babysit all of you.

[He gestures with a head nod towards his set of younger brothers.]

Especially those two. But you've always been just sooo good at keeping to yourself, huh?

[Naminé's eyes follow Vanitas's head nod to look at Sora and Roxas, then go back up to Vanitas. His words make her frown.]

I'm not keeping to myself...

[She is, but she doesn't want to imply she isn't enjoying time with her friends. Being in the middle of the action just...doesn't suit her! Drawing her friends having fun is enough! Probably!]
