» 1. always night - sure is dark, huh? has it always been so late so long? » 2. camp unsafe isn't safe anymore - wasn't summer camp supposed to be, like, fun and stuff? » 3. new house new problems - this place is perfect and you got such a good dealon it, what could go wrong? » 4. the calls are coming from inside the house - there's no sign of a break-in, so what's with all the creepy shit going on in the house? » 5. the little shop that wasn't there yesterday - well, it wasn't. the shop keeper seems...fine. as fine as "suspicious" can get, at least. » 6. don't go in the woods - there's a reason no one tells you to actually go into the woods » 7. abandoned hospital - doesn't every town have one of these creepy things on the outskirts? » 8. haunted castle - sure, it was a nice place to run into as shelter from the rain, but who--or what--is waiting for you inside? » 9. town with a dark secret - people are being real shifty about their town for no apparent reason

» 1. costumes - costumes!!! the best part! there's probably a contest, maybe with cash prizes if the host is generous enough, or maybe just bragging rights until next year. » 2. party games - there's bobbing for apples, pin the face piece on the pumpkin (if that's a thing), group card games...plenty of options out there! » 3. selfie corner - it's a fold-up table with all kinds of props and a selfie stick on it, have fun! » 4. dance floor - either a dj is controlling the music or someone's spotify playlist. either way, it's time to get dancing and show off your moves! » 5. buffet - pizza? potluck? desserts??? spiked punch??? who knows what the spread's like! » 6. bar - might be a paid-for open bar or just an assortment of beers and wine coolers. » 7. quiet rooms - need a break? the guest bedroom is free to chill out in. or the bathroom if that's your thing. » 8. the host's pets - know who's better than people? the dog and/or the cat. » 9. going home - party's over, are you helping with clean up or are you dragging yourself home?

[It isn't too weird for Eddie to get an unexpected call from Ryou. It usually comes out of a text conversation that calls for it, or Eddie's the one calling, but they've been dating long enough that he's usually the go-to if something's up. Even if it's just a card game related crisis. He answers.]

Hey babe, what's--

[Fuck.]

[The sound that Ryou just made drops into Eddie's stomach like ice.]

Ryou? Hey, baby, what's wrong? What happened?

[He's heard Ryou cry before, but this isn't "bad thoughts" crying, this sounds like he's in pain.]

Do you need me to come get you? Where are you right now?

[It's so relieving to hear Eddie's voice, the bit of it he can hear through his own voice. He sighs, shuts his eyes. Maybe if he hopes enough, Eddie can appear here and make this go away, maybe his voice can wake Ryou up from this stupid nightmare.]

I'm--[deep breath]--I'm at home, in the kitchen--the floor it's--it came out of me, I don't--!

[But the more he talks the more he shakes until his hands are shaking so bad he drops his phone into the sludge puddle. He curses in a high-pitched whine, but at least it landed screen-up. He lets out a quivering breath and wraps his arms around himself as he curls down forward. Fuck fuck fuck.]

Eddie--Eddie I can't hear you. Please, please come home.

[He drops his head. The cabinets suddenly all open and slam shut at random, over and over, the stomping is coming down the hall, the walls are being clawed, picture frames falling and crashing and wood splintering. It doesn't have a voice anymore, but does it have a body? A pit of despair is ripping into Ryou's gut.]

It's coming for me.
