It's time for a picnic! Are you on a date or just hanging out with a friend? What kind of food did you bring--homemade, store-bought, or take-out? The nice thing about picnics is you can have them just about anywhere, like the park or your front lawn or that little grassy patch by your apartment building. You don't even have to sit on the ground, honestly, that's what picnic tables are for! Hopefully it's a nice sunny day and you don't get rained out, but maybe you brought an umbrella just in case.

[Aerith has invited her date friends over for a picnic in her garden. The view is really nice and it's rare that she gets to share it with anyone for more than a few minutes. Today, though, she's forcing it on them.

Aerith has already set up a large picnic blanket in a spot up on one of the small hills overlooking the water and has instructed Cloud and Tifa to sit and wait there while she gets food from her house nearby. She knows that if she let Tifa she would help her bring things out but her girlfriend deserves a break! And don't get her started on Cloud. She's pretty sure he would just hover around awkwardly if she didn't give him a spot to sit.

No, today, everyone is going to sit and have a nice date whether they like it or not!]

[headfull]

[Cloud is having trouble with just sitting and doing nothing. Not in a way where he needs to be doing something, but in a way he knows this is meant to be relaxing and his body wants to revolt. He's sitting on the edge of the blanket, one leg stretched out and one leg bent up that he's crunching himself over. He even still has his gloves on!]

[He looks over at Tifa, also told to sit, and then says partially to her and partially to himself,]

She's fine by herself.

[Tifa's twitching hands stopped as she jumped a bit when Cloud spoke. Right. Aerith was fine. Tifa just wanted to help.]

It feels kinda weird not helping out, heh.

[She clasped her hands together on her lap as she sat cross legged on the picnic blanket. It was very nice of Aerith to set this all up, but it was for the three of them wasn't it? Tifa should be helping]

I'm glad we're able to do this, though.

[Aerith knows better than to leave them alone for too long. They'll probably start overthinking things. Why did she decide to date these two disasters again? Oh right, she loves them. A few minutes later Aerith is walking up the hill with a big picnic basket. She can see both of them fidgeting in the distance and laughs loudly enough that she's sure they can hear her.]

Can't you two relax for five minutes?

[Aerith drops the basket in the middle of the blanket.]

There. Now you can calm down.

[headfull]

[Cloud pauses for a moment, then nods in response to Tifa.]

...Yeah.

[It's a bit later when Aerith finally arrives, basket in hand, in high spirits as usual. He looks up at her as she approaches, frowning. She knows the answer to her own question, jeez. He gets the point.]

[He watches the basket be deposited onto the blanket and he just kinda stares at it. Well. She did it. Not that he didn't think she couldn't, but it was weird to not have helped her in some way, or to know that Tifa did. He grunts in response and turns a look up at her that's like a soft kind of disgruntled; he's not upset with her or anything, just at this whole sit-and-do-nothing thing.]

[tenderstrength]

[Tifa laughed a bit, getting caught fidgeting the way she was. She moved herself to sitting on her legs, opening the basket so she could at least help distribute food and utensils.]

Sorry, sorry. I'm not usually being treated to something. I don't exactly know what to do with myself when I'm told to just sit.

[She gestured with her hand at Cloud.]

He's not any better than I am.

[Poor Cloud, look at that little face. And of course Tifa is immediately helping with the picnic basket. Aerith knew this would happen. It's fine, she's here now and can ensure these two nerds have a nice, relaxing day.

Aerith smiles warmly at Tifa and moves to take a seat on the blanket.]

Well then, I guess it's up to me to get you used to it.

[She can't help but laugh when Tifa gestures to Cloud. She's right.]

Oh, I know, he's the worst.

[Aerith knocks her shoulder against Cloud's to punctuate her statement. She gives Cloud a mischievous look while she addresses him.]

You're lucky we love you so much.
