It's time for a picnic! Are you on a date or just hanging out with a friend? What kind of food did you bring--homemade, store-bought, or take-out? The nice thing about picnics is you can have them just about anywhere, like the park or your front lawn or that little grassy patch by your apartment building. You don't even have to sit on the ground, honestly, that's what picnic tables are for! Hopefully it's a nice sunny day and you don't get rained out, but maybe you brought an umbrella just in case.

[Aerith has invited her date friends over for a picnic in her garden. The view is really nice and it's rare that she gets to share it with anyone for more than a few minutes. Today, though, she's forcing it on them.

Aerith has already set up a large picnic blanket in a spot up on one of the small hills overlooking the water and has instructed Cloud and Tifa to sit and wait there while she gets food from her house nearby. She knows that if she let Tifa she would help her bring things out but her girlfriend deserves a break! And don't get her started on Cloud. She's pretty sure he would just hover around awkwardly if she didn't give him a spot to sit.

No, today, everyone is going to sit and have a nice date whether they like it or not!]

[Whenever Zack goes on a long trip out of town he always tells Aerith about all of the beautiful sights he sees and how he wants to show them to her. Normally, the idea of leaving home makes her a little nervous, but this time he told her about a place that was less than a day's trip out and suggested making a date of it. It's pretty hard to say no to that even if it's a little outside of her comfort zone.

Aerith is wearing a cute pink sundress to match the ribbon Zack bought her all that time ago and is holding a cute basket on her lap. There's a blanket inside for them to sit on when they get there along with some food they bought on the way out. She's looking out the side window and watching the scenery pass by when she turns back towards Zack.]

[He hasn't not work long sleeves in so long but if he's going to be sitting out in the sun it's no sleeves time and that's weird for him. His left arm is also covered in skin grafts, mostly his upper arm and shoulder, and he diligently smothering his arms with sunscreen, taking special care on those parts.]

[This was something organized by Tamaki but by the time Kyouya and Haruhi got there, Tamaki called out with a cold. Well, his caretaker called out for him, he apparently was going to tough it out and come anyway. Idiot.]

[So that left Kyouya with expensive food, a table with a gingham cloth draped over it, and Haruhi. He sighs and pockets his phone.]

[It probably says something about Sojiro that Morgana was more of an obstacle to Akira sneaking out at night than his probation guardian. There was a lot of complaining while Akira cooked and sorted everything into neat bento containers, dampened only slightly by his foresight to make enough to leave Morgana behind with a hearty dinner of his own.]

[It’s already dark when Akira catches his train, and he spends the trip over to the Kosei dorms overaware of his bag. The weight is off without Morgana, but the food is still warm enough that he can feel it through the thick canvas. He doesn’t smile much in public, but he keeps catching himself grinning, a little too giddy for his composure to hold.]

[It’s silly, really— the park near Yusuke’s dorm is too close to the city for halfway decent stargazing. They’d have better luck at the planetarium, but the point isn’t really the stars. The point is that when they did go to the planetarium, Yusuke didn’t pull away when Akira held his hand in the dark.]

[They’re meeting outside the dorms, somewhere with streetlights so they can find each other without making too much commotion. Akira is a little bit early, but he knows where to look in case Yusuke is too.]

[Here's the thing-- Grey Warden Security isn't exactly known for big, important contracts. Tabris has been working for them since she was 18, fresh out of juvie and still working on her GED, and she's never seen the team get invited to any actual events hosted by the companies they contract with. Sometimes they bond with the cleaning crew or the receptionists, but it's rare for them to meet anyone higher up than that.]

[She isn't sure what the Inquisition actually does, outside of sounding like Spanish knights are going to burst into their board meetings. They don't pay her to understand the business, just to guard it. And apparently to go to their company events, because as soon as they'd been informed this was mandatory Tabris immediately insisted it be paid time. It took a couple of union meetings to get the whole thing sorted out.]

[So now she's at a corporate picnic. Her husband drove them, along with a couple of their coworkers-- the same big stupid carpool they do when they go out for drinks. Anders and Nate argued in the backseat (well, Nate argued while Anders blatantly flirted with him) the whole way, unbothered by Sigrun sitting between them. The dog has a bed set up in the trunk, but spends most of the trip poking his nose over the back seats.]

[They're a little late, and Anders complains loudly about leg cramps as soon as they're out in the fresh air, really just as an excuse to do sexually suggestive stretches to annoy Nate. Tabris rounds the front of the car to talk to Alistair.]

I'll go talk to the people organizing this shindig, make sure they know we're here.

[Alistair glances over at their companions, where Sigrun is laughing at Anders' attempt to touch his toes.]

I have a sneaking suspicion they'll notice us either way, but if you must.

[Tabris laughs and stands on her tiptoes to kiss him; he still has to lean down a bit so that she can.]

Make sure Barkspawn doesn't bully Anders too much.

[Tabris snorts and walks away from the car, heading for a group of people with clipboards. That seems like the place to start.]

[Most catering jobs were "put the goods in boxes and watch them go". Some were "put the goods on plastic trays and send them off with the customer". Few were "pack up the van and deliver the goods". This was the first "put all the goods on the bakery's personal display dishes and bring to a location where an office picnic party is being held". Usually deliveries were come and go; Sora did them himself most of the time. But, seeing as they had to use their own display trays and such, they have to stay for the duration of the picnic party, chilling on the outskirts.]

[People come up to them once in a while to ask about the food and Sora likes to enthusiastically jump into the conversation when he knows something, but for the most part he hangs back, picking at a croissant he's glad he nabbed before they vanished (it's okay, there's more in the van, he'll get them in a sec). He watches which pastries get taken the most, which ones get taken the least, who keeps coming back for more (he sees you, Mr. Blue Polo), and generally just...watches the people.]

[Sora pulls off a larger chunk of his croissant and chews thoughtfully. There are a lot of smiles and laughing, but there's a notable mixture of people either sticking to their tight cliques and some people drifting around or sitting alone. He tilts his head to the side.]

D'you think they're friends?

[He's not really referring to anyone in particular; he means the whole office.]

[Eridan is sitting in a kiddie pool. He doesn't need to be in water like this normally to survive or anything, but it's hot in the sun and you know what a nocturnal alien isn't used to? The sun. The water's warm so it's not like it's helping that much to cool him off but at least he's not dry, and the rare breeze does feel nice on his wet skin.]

[But nothing will stop him from pouting and being grumpy about this. He could be in ice cold water and he'd still have a sour face about the whole thing.]

What's the point'a doing this human thing if it's so fuckin' hot?

She considered just moseying on home but, y'know, it's such a nice day outside, why not enjoy some quiet time? So she's horse sitting by a tree, gazing out at the nature before her.]
