It's time for a picnic! Are you on a date or just hanging out with a friend? What kind of food did you bring--homemade, store-bought, or take-out? The nice thing about picnics is you can have them just about anywhere, like the park or your front lawn or that little grassy patch by your apartment building. You don't even have to sit on the ground, honestly, that's what picnic tables are for! Hopefully it's a nice sunny day and you don't get rained out, but maybe you brought an umbrella just in case.

[Whenever Zack goes on a long trip out of town he always tells Aerith about all of the beautiful sights he sees and how he wants to show them to her. Normally, the idea of leaving home makes her a little nervous, but this time he told her about a place that was less than a day's trip out and suggested making a date of it. It's pretty hard to say no to that even if it's a little outside of her comfort zone.

Aerith is wearing a cute pink sundress to match the ribbon Zack bought her all that time ago and is holding a cute basket on her lap. There's a blanket inside for them to sit on when they get there along with some food they bought on the way out. She's looking out the side window and watching the scenery pass by when she turns back towards Zack.]

So...how much farther?

[Zack is having a grand time on this trip. The music isn't too quiet or too loud, the scenery is beautiful, it always feels good to drive, and, more importantly, he's had Aerith next to him this whole time. She's always so pretty and cute, but he loves how she looks in pink and he didn't miss the ribbon in her hair. It's looking out to be a perfect date.]

Hm? Oh, not much. Just right up here in the next town.

[He's done a job in this small town before and passed by this park. It's beautiful and oversees a lake and lots of trees and there are plenty of places to lay down a blanket. He's a little worried about parking since the weather is perfect, but they'll figure that out when they get there. Maybe they'll get lucky.]

[And sure enough they cross the town line and there are buildings instead of guard rails and trees. Zack starts mumbling to himself about where this park is, looking around and making turns, going off memory than any directions. They reach the park soon enough and, wow, there's a parking space right at the edge!]

Look at that! Lucky us, huh?

[He chuckles as he pulls in.]

Pretty sight, huh? And this is just from the parking lot.

[Aerith looks out on the park and he is, of course, right about how beautiful it is.]

Oh, wow, Zack this looks amazing.

[She's staring out the front window, watching people walk by, and hesitates a little before opening the car door. This still feels pretty weird. She hasn't been this far away from home since she was a child. Aerith lets out a small breath, pops open the door and slides out. She is careful to make sure her dress doesn't catch anywhere.

Aerith looks back into the car at Zack while she grabs the picnic basket.]

Lead the way?

[Zack grabs the blanket from the back seat, gets out of the car, locking the automatic doors behind him, and he bounds over to Aerith's side to offer his arm to her like the fucking dork he is.]

Of course!

[He knows she must be feeling a little stressed, so he wants to make sure he's by her side the entire time.]

[Aerith threads her empty hand through his arm and and leans her head against him for a moment. The physical contact is very comforting. She can't help but smile, Zack is so sweet.

She adjusts the basket in her other arm so that it's more stable.]

Okay, where to?

[Zack gestures with his blanket arm outwards to nowhere in particular, just in the vague direction of the park.]

Right this way!

[He leads them to an area he spots on their little walk down the concrete path, it's slightly on a hill and there's no one there. There's a tree so there's some nice shade and it overlooks the lake. Someone must've just left because how could such a perfect spot be vacant?]

I think right here is perfect! What do you think?

[Aerith looks out on the view of the lake and lets out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding.]

It's beautiful, Zack.

[She lets go of his arm to put down the basket in the shady area under the tree. She gently places a hand on the tree. There aren't many trees like this back in the city, nothing this big anyway, so it's relaxing to be beneath its canopy.

Aerith closes her eyes to listen to the soft sounds of nature around her. The wind blowing in the air, moving across treetops and the surface of the lake. She smiles and turns back to Zack.]
